THE BIOGRAPHY 01

## Grounded in energy. *Looking ahead.*

A career across oil and gas. A focus on what technology makes possible.

### An energy foundation.

Joseph DeWoody is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Valor, a Fort Worth, Texas-based professional services provider specializing in mineral rights management, oil and gas accounting, and outsourcing. He co-founded Valor in 2018 and brings two decades of experience across exploration, development, production, and energy investment. His career includes acquiring and managing thousands of oil and gas interests.

### Technology with a purpose.

DeWoody’s work connects energy expertise with artificial intelligence and software. At Valor, that focus includes mineral.tech®, the proprietary mineral management platform he was instrumental in creating. It brings together royalty reporting, asset mapping, production information, accounting, and documents to help owners understand their portfolios. His training spans coding, artificial intelligence, and technology, alongside professional qualifications in brand strategy and digital marketing.

### Building Valor.

Since its founding, Valor has expanded its professional services to include business processes, back-office outsourcing, and specialty asset management. The company has appeared on the Inc. 5000 list for four consecutive years. Its recognition also includes the Deloitte Technology Fast 500, the Financial Times’ America’s Fastest-Growing Companies, and workplace honors from Fort Worth Inc., the Dallas Business Journal, and Inc.

### Education and professional credentials.

DeWoody earned a BBA in Entrepreneurship and Real Estate and an MBA from Baylor University and a Graduate Certificate in Energy from Texas A&M University. He completed the Colorado School of Mines Petroleum Super School and earned a Certificate in Leader Development from the United States Army War College. He also completed the Singularity Executive Program, the YPO President’s Program at Harvard Business School, and the MIT Horizon Deep Tech Bootcamp. He holds the Certified Professional Landman (CPL), Certified Mineral Manager (CMM), and Certified Professional Lease and Title Analyst (CPLTA) designations.

### Leadership and public service.

DeWoody was appointed to the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists by Governor Rick Perry and has served as Chapter Chair of both YPO Fort Worth and YPO West Texas. He serves as an Honorary Commander of the 301st Fighter Wing of the U.S. Air Force Reserve and as an alumni director of the Texas Lyceum. He also serves on the Baylor Hankamer School of Business MBA Advisory Council.

### Civic commitment.

His current and former board, trustee, director, and advisory service includes the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Southwest Christian School, Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, Cotton Bowl Foundation, and Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. These roles reflect a continuing commitment to civic, educational, and charitable organizations.

### A competitive beginning.

At Baylor, DeWoody joined the Division I football program as a walk-on and earned a scholarship. As a starting center, he received Academic All-Conference honors and was named the team’s Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2004.
